Helping Ron Move

My friend Ron was moving out of his place after eleven years. I went with him to pick up the U-Haul truck and then followed him to Home Depot to pick up a couple of day laborers. We negotiated $25 an hour for each of them. One of the guys hopped into the passenger seat of my car and the other in the rental truck. The start time was 7:05am. Ron immediately put the pedal to the metal as he does in any vehicle and I kept up. The guy next to me was surprised and I let him know that's how we do things. When we were all done moving it was 8:40am and so, although it wasn't a full two hours I gave one of the guys a hundred dollar bill and told them to split it. He asked if I had change, so they could each have $50 without having to make change later. I took the hundred back, tore it in half and gave each of them half of the bill. They laughed and I took the bill back and magically put it back together and handed it back to the guy. They didn't know that I was a magician until then. They were stunned. I told them that that was my only offer to break the hundred and that they are on their own now. We gave them an experience they will never forget. I say we rather than me becauase Ron is a true entertainer and wild man. He will talk to anybody and his commentary and gall is on the edge and sometimes beyond. He's also a now guy, which I value in a person.

Thanks for reading...

p.s. Ron is saved in my phone as Premium Ron. Years ago when he was changing the fuel pump on my car, he got splashed in the face with some gasoline. Without hesitation, he rubbed his lips together and yelled "PREMIUM!"
